Beware - the phishing campaigns are Yahoo flavored now

Written by Wade Tonkin on July 14, 2008 – 6:36 pm -

Wow - I have received about 12 emails today supposedly from Yahoo telling me that my Yahoo ad campaigns are coming down and that I need to log in and update my information… great - glad they are telling me.

Except that I have no Yahoo ad accounts.. and that the email isn’t coming from Yahoo….

If you get emails like this… definitely do your homework before you give up any potentially damaging info.

None of the actual companies like Yahoo, Google, eBay or Paypal will EVER email you and ask you to supply your username and password or call anyone and give up card numbers.

Avoid the scams… the only reason that these things happen is that people keep falling for them.

Be safe online… and God Bless,

Wade

Ugh… the phishing campaigns continue

Written by Wade Tonkin on April 3, 2008 – 12:16 pm -

I have received this phishing email about 15 times in last 3 days.

Dear CitiBusiness customer,

We would like to inform you that we are currently carrying out scheduled maintenance.
In order to guarantee the high level of security to our business customers, we require you to complete “CitiBusiness Online Form”.
Please complete CitiBusiness Online Form using the link below:

This is auto-generated email, please do not respond to this email.

I am getting so tired of these things.   Please be careful out there if you ever get stuff like this.  A heads up.  Real banks don’t do this.  Nor do Amazon, eBay or any other reputable business.

God Bless,

Wade
