Tip of the Week – increase your email marketing opt-ins with a customized confirmation email
by Wade Tonkin on May 19, 2009
in email marketing
I don’t pretend to know all there is about affiliate marketing, and I definitely don’t know all there is about email marketing, in fact, I really just got started at building my opt-in email list in the last year, at the urging of my friends Joel Comm and Jim Kukral. Like a lot of people in the affiliate and Internet marketing world, I use AWeber to manage my lists and follow up messages. If you are looking to add this dimension to your marketing, I recommend this tool as well.
Once you have an AWeber account, you need to know what you are doing to get the most out of it and this is there this week’s tip comes in. Jim Kukral posted last week on how to increase opt-in rates by customizing the follow up email that AWeber sends out after your form is submitted. He shared a video that I thought was great – in fact, I am putting the suggestions from this video into play on my site today and recommend that you do the same.

I wanted to get to the bottom of this, so I called Jim up and recorded a podcast where he talks about what his coaching club members get.

My good friend Jim Kukral has just launched a coaching program (TheBizWebCoach) for people interested in getting advice from an experienced (and outside the box) web marketer that they can apply to growing their own business online.
With tough times ahead (at least for the short term) there are a lot of folks who have lost jobs or are looking to supplement their income through marketing or selling online. Jim has set out to provide a really affordable resource that can help anyone interested in online business by giving them direct access to Jim’s experience ain building businesses online.
Jim is not offering another information product, how to guide, DVD set, etc here. He’s offering his time.
Subscribers to Jim’s coaching club will get access to Jim’s brain through members-only webinars where the floor is open to questions as well as live UStream events, and they’ll get this access at a great price, as packages start at just $47 per month.
Jim is offering a special perk to the CAM Blog audience – if you sign up through the link below, then email jim //at//jimkukral.com and let him know that you heard about his program on the CAM Blog, he’ll give you a free 30 minute phone consult.
I have known Jim for years and I really like what he brings to the table in this program. He’s an experienced entrepreneur; a designer, marketer, blogger, video producer and affiliate and is the guy responsible for getting me into blogging in the first place.
Check out The Biz Web Coach and remember the special incentive for CAM Blog followers. If you buy through my affiliate link, and email Jim to let him know you heard about TheBizWebCoach from me, you will receive a free 30 minute phone consult with Jim.

Review to come – Web Video University

The next product that I’ll be reviewing is Web Video University from Dave Kaminski.
The course is touted as one that really focuses on teaching marketers how to easily create effective commercial videos and I’m really interested in looking at this in detail so I can share the wealth a bit with my client’s and their affiliates and help to generate more clicks and of course, revenue through effective use of video.
I currently recommend Jim Kukral’s OnlineVideoToolkit.com and will continue to do so. Jim provides a really easy course that is very nuts and bolts in it’s approach to taking a newbie from “zero to online video on their blog” and I think this course will be a bit more focused on the aspects of creating commercial video.
We’ll see – in the meantime, feel free to check out Dave Kaminski’s Web Video University
If I like what I see, I’ve negotiated a great deal for my audience.
God Bless,
Wade

Using video in your site content can be really powerful, especially if you do product reviews.
Jim Kukral has put together a really effective free educational program for learning how to get into producing video for the web on his site at OnlineVideoToolkit.com – Jim has to be pretty excited as his page was cited and he is quoted multiple times in a new article on Marketing Sherpa.com - which is one of the really great sites in the marketing arena.
If you have interest in geting into web video and doing it well I recommend you check out both the article on MarketingSherpa and Jim’s site.
Jim’s work is really useful for “noobs” because it’s practical and he starts from the ground level and takes you step by step through the process. What camera should you use? How do you do lighting? What lights do you need? How do you edit video? All questions answered by Mr. Kukral.
Check it out.
CAM Blog Podcast – Jim Kukral on finding your voice in online video

Last week, I had the chance to connect with longtime friend and mentor Jim Kukral to chat about online video and specifically, how people new to making user generated video can “find their voice” and use this to their advantage as marketers.
Jim and I discuss some of our favorite video bloggers as well as Jim’s new project OnlineVideoToolkit.com where he shares his techniques for generating quality online video on an entry budget of $200 or less.
Some of the video bloggers that we mentioned are:
If you are looking for a Christian example of awesome use of online video, search for “Mark Driscoll” on YouTube. Mark is the Senior Pastor at Mars Hill Bible Church in Seattle and is an awesome user of video to get both his sermons out, as well as some really fun shorter teachings and rants.
The main point of the discussion is that marketing with video is the wave of the present and near future. If you aren’t in the game, your competitor is or will be soon. The barriers to entry are low and you should not be afraid to jump into generating online video with passion on your area of interest.
To help folks who are new to the online video game, Jim has released a new free course at www.onlinevideotoolkit.com – check it out today.

Coming soon on the CAM Blog: Podcast with Jim Kukral

in CAM Blog Podcast
I am pretty excited about next week on the CAM Blog as I am going to be sitting down on the Podcast with Jim Kukral. Jim is a long time online marketer and blogger who I have worked with for a number of years on a couple different projects. Jim was the Affiliate Summit Blogger of the Year and recently was the MC of Affiliate Summit West 2008. He also hosts a daily video cast called “The Daily Flip” that features video’s Jim shoots with his Flip Cam that he has now infected nearly the entire secular affiliate industry with. In 2007 Jim launched Scratchback a fun “blog tipping” widget that makes it possible for bloggers to accept “tips” from followers and reward them with a link. Jim is a blogging and social media mentor to me and I am excited to chat with him.
We’re going to be chatting about “Finding Your Voice in Online Video” which is a topic that I think is really topical and awesome. Online video is very hot and destined to get hotter, and can be a powerful tool in both developing a following through Viral Marketing, but also when used to promote and review products and services as an affiliate.
Jim and I are chatting on Monday afternoon, so expect the podcast to be updated Monday night or so.
Hmmm… interesting twist to Joel Comm launch

I was just chatting with Jim Kukral about some of the recent happenings in the online marketing world and he directed me to the 45N5 Blog by Mark Wielgus where he pointed out some interesting facts about the new Adsense Secrets launch from Joel Comm.
I wanted everyone to have a heads up because I promoted the opportunity on this blog. Apparently, there is a $29.95 monthly automatic rebill that happens unless you opt out. I’m hoping that Joel is delivering access to some awesome content for that extra money. The content is great in the book for $9.95 – just know going into it that if that is all you want, you’ll need to let them know.
I’d love to have Joel on a podcast as soon as possible to chat on this.
God Bless,
Wade
