GodBlogCon Affiliate Program Temporarily Offline

I wanted to give a quick heads up on this. If you are a member of the GodBlogCon affiliate program in Shareasale, you should know that the program has been taken temporarily offline.

The show is undergoing a rebranding, but will take place once again in October 2009 – co-located with the BlogWorld Expo in Las Vegas. The plan now is to look into re-launching the program in about May of 2009 to give 4-5 months to promote the event. All commissions owed have been paid out.

GodBogCon wrap up

Last weekend, I headed to Las Vegas for GodBlogCon held in conjunction with the BlogWorldExpo.   I have to compliment the GodBlogCon team on a job well done as everything went really smoothly and the entire (100% student and volunteer) crew did a wonderful job at keeping things running on time and making sure everyone felt welcome.

I have to say I had one disconcerting moment when I was repeatedly called “Mr. Tonkin” by the extremely respectful and well meaning staff who clearly were not aware that “Mr. Tonkin” is in  fact my dad – who is some 28 years my senior – but we’ll let that pass.

I presented on “How to Support your Christian Blog… while staying Saved” and I think it went really well – I got lots of excellent questions and I hope everyone enjoyed it and found it useful in their blogging ministries.

I also got the chance to chat with some awesome folks from the secular side of blogging and online marketing that confirmed that the affiliate marketing model is alive and well.  Blogging studs like ProBlogger (Darren Rowse), CopyBlogger (Brian Clark) and John Chow all confirmed that affiliate marketing is a strong part of their money making mix on their sites along with Paid Sponsorships.  Chow even revealed that Affiliate revenue would soon outpace sponsor revenue on his site as he has recurring revenue arrangements with many of his merchant partners that compound earnings monthly.

I even got some great video with Darren talking about how he got his start in blogging as a “GodBlogger” with an assist and inspiration from “The Tall Skinny Kiwi“  Andrew Jones – who keynoted the GodBlogCon this year.  Will post that shortly.

I am really excited about the upcoming GodBlogCon bloggers show in Las Vegas.   It’s just over 2 weeks away at this point and if you are on the fence about coming, I want to encourage you to take the leap.   It’s a really great show from the standpoint of both the content and the fellowship and networking opportunities with other Believers.

Christian Bloggers of the World Unite!

My next big project after the CAMA Cruise wraps up is a really exciting one: GodBlogCon 2008 and it’s affiliate marketing effort.

What is GodBlogCon?  It is a gathering of Christian new media pioneers: bloggers, podcasters, video casters, social network operators, etc who are all  making a stand for Christ on the web.   GodBlogCon is the event that is looking to pull a large number of these “Godbloggers” together to share fellowship with each other and learn from each other how we can me more effective in our online outreach ministries.

This year’s GodBlogCon is being held in Las Vegas, NV (God Blogging in Sin City?) on September 20-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in conjunction with the BlogWorld New Media Expo.  This gives Christian bloggers a great to both learn from other Christians, but also to be exposed to the secular New Media tools and techniques that we should be putting to work for maximum impact for Him.

I attended last year and loved it.  I met awesome bloggers from a lot of the major Evangelical ministries like Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council and I was so impressed with the experience that I am speaking this year and heading up the affiliate marketing effort as well.
