My wife and I are off for the weekend for a marriage retreat sponsored by our church.  We’ll be headed off with 20 other couples to Barnabas Family Ministries Retreat Center in remote Keats Island, BC, Canada.

If you check out the thread on blogging vs Site Build It, particularly the comments, you will notice that I got a little contentious with a commenter. Why?

The main reason is that I think that “Jay” was using this platform to blatantly advertise a product.

“So what you might ask… Wade, you promote products on here all the time.”

Uh… yeah… it’s my blog… I can do that.

My issue wasn’t that Jay mentioned SBI at all - I brought it up I guess. It was the fact that the posts he wrote went beyond just “hey, I have used it, it’s great” and went into claims that I though were both over the top and blatantly untrue. Some facts for you:

1. More people online are making money without using SBI or Sitesell than are making money with it. It’s not the “only way” to make money online or for newbies to build sites that get SEO ranking
2. “Hundreds of thousands of people” are most likely not using SBI (Dr. Ken, correct me if I am wrong_ so this is hype.
3. Even If “hundreds of thousands of people” are using SBI, chances are (as with any money making system) that a small percentage of them are actually doing well. So… hype again.

And then, after the hype, the commenter posts a link to his review (read sales) page for SBI to jack my traffic on the thread to his page where he has affiliate links for SBI.

Jay, I don’t mind if you comment on my blog… but if you want to advertise, please contact me for rates.

In summary - I love to promote products and programs that I really like. I am happy to have commenters mention their projects in context, but if you want to have your ad copy included on my blog, contact me to see if something can be worked out. If I check out your product or program and it’s passes muster with me, I’ll let you know what the ads rates are or if I want to support it free or with an affiliate cut. You never know.

Oh… last note- Jay - I will actually be happy to identify when I post affiliate links in a post.

How frustrating…. out of nowhere the sound quality on my FlipCam went downhill in a hurry.

I get all kinds of static, hum and scratchiness on the audio track of my videos and the quality us unacceptable.   Soooo  I am sending my Flip back to the factory and hopefully, will have a replacement soon.

If you aren’t familiar with Twitter by now, you probably have more of a life because of it.

Twitter is a combination messaging medium/social network that allows you to update your friends and followers of what you are up to, or in my case, if I have updated the blog.

If you’d like to to get updates by chat or by text message to your phone when I update, it’s easy to set up.

Here are the steps:

1. Visit http://www.twitter.com/camblog
2. If you are signed up already, login.
3. If you are not signed up, create an account
4. In the searchbox on top enter “camblog”
5. Click on the “camblog” in the search results
6. Click “follow”
7. You can then choose whether to enable any chat service or mobile device to get updates

Alright, who is up for a weekly conference call where we can gather as believers and pray together?

When I was at the United Sharing Network one of the things I really enjoyed (and now truly miss) was our morning call where we would pray to start the day.

We can pray for each other’s needs, families, ventures, ministries.  I think it’s a great thing to do and I’d love to see the Believers in the business working to live in community as Christians.

We’re told in Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

I’d be up for starting the week with a call at a set time.

Wow… I have been half down with this lame chest cold for about a week and I have been holding off on more video because I didn’t think anyone really wanted to tune into me hacking up a lung on cam.   But then I thought - hey, if you guys love me, you’ll take me as I am.  So- will kick out some new video today.

I am beyond stoked at the new look and feel of the site.  It’s a combination of a couple of things coming into play.  The Theme is based on XplosiveReloaded with the new logo/header done by a Christian brother in Australia, Ryan of DesignGuruRyan.com.

If you are in the market for landing page design, graphics work, sales letter page design, Ryan is a great guy to chat with.

I still have some work to do from recovery from the recent crash, but I hope to have that done soon with all links functional again.
