Christian Colleges cost per lead offer from eLearners
Jul 30, 2008 Christian Affiliate Programs
I was just over on ABestWeb and I saw a post from the affiliate management team from ShareResults. They mentioned that eLearners.com had just releases a Christian Colleges landing page for their affiliates.
I made a quick click and found myself on http://christian-colleges.net looking at offers from a ton of well known Christian colleges and universities like Liberty and Regent as well as some smaller schools.
If you have a Christian content site, these might be worth having a look at. You can find out more or join the eLearners program at http://www.shareresults.com/local_affiliate_desc.php?mid=2266

CAM Blog Podcast: Rhea Perry on Entrepreneur Days
Jul 29, 2008 Uncategorized
There are a few people in the online marketing space who are known by a single name. I had the chance to speak with one of them last week. Rhea Perry is known to her subscribers as simply “Rhea!”
Rhea is homeschooling mother of 7 and a believer who got her start in online marketing as an affiliate with a Yahoo group. She now does training conferences like her upcoming Entrepreneur Days, as well as providing coaching services. She runs with some of the top online marketers in the business and keeps it all in perspective with her Faith.
Rhea and I talked really extensively about her upcoming conference Entrepreneur Days as it brings a lot of unique things to the table - starting with the fact that children are welcome - to the point where parents are encouraged to bring them. There is no special “teen program” here - the kids are actually trained along with the parents. Rhea feels that it is never too young to get your kids the education in entrepreneurship that schools just don’t provide.
Rhea’s own son got into real estate investing when he was 18 and was able to free his father up from his job by 21. Her son is still actively involved in real estate and is selling homes on eBay ( I had never heard of this) and he will be sharing his techniques and experiences at the event.
Rhea is bringing in top speakers in a variety of online marketing niches and business topics including:
Internet Marketing on Web 2.0
Getting Traffic to Your Website or Blog
Stock Market Investing
Investing in Real Estate Using the Internet
Business Systems
Non-profit and Corporate Sponsorships
Membership Sites
Selling on eBay
Faith is a key element to what Rhea teaches. She emphasizes that her seminars are not about getting rich quick. They are about empowering people to be able to work from home, spend more time with their families, and have the income to allow them to support their churches and make an impact on the world with the resources that God entrusts to them.
On top of the training opportunities, the event also offers a great opportunity to share fellowship with other attendees and form mentoring relationships and friendships that can last a lifetime.
I highly recommend that you check out the Entrepreneur Days site for yourself and see if it looks like the right event for you.
Rhea and I talked for 30 mins, but we could have gone an hour. She’s a ball of energy that I just love connecting with.

CAM Blog Podcast: Sam Harrelson of AffSpot
Jul 28, 2008 Affiliate Industry News
Today was a big day in the affiliate marketing industry. I posted earlier with a video from Sam Harrelson, founder of AffSpot.com talking about the launch of the new AffSpot affiliate marketing forum site.
I have known Sam for a while and respected his work and insight on his blogs CostPerNews, AffiliateFortuneCookie, and as the editor at Revenews. I bonded originally with Sam when he asked if “pinko lefties” like him were welcome at my Gospel Brunch at Affiliate Summit West a couple of years back. Come to find out that Sam is working on wrapping up his MDiv degree. I may just have to ask him to be our official CAMA Chaplain.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Sam and some others including long time ABW’ers Billy Kay, Ron Bechtold, Kellie Stevens and Aunesty Jannsen came to the conclusion that the affiliate industry needed another place for discussion where all topics and areas of the industry (cost per sale, cost per lead, cost per action) were up for discussion and where opinions could be really freely expressed.
Sam and I chatted about the goals of AffSpot and the fact that this is not meant to be a replacement to other valued affiliate gathering spots like ABW, 5 Star Affiliate or noted “Black Hat” hangout Wickedfire.com , but another resource for people involved in all facets of the performance marketing industry.
I have launched a forum for my OPM company GTO Management as well as a forum for the Christian Affiliate Marketing Association there - I hope to see you on the threads.
God Bless,
Wade

AffSpot.com - a new forum for the affiliate marketing industry
Jul 28, 2008 Affiliate Industry News
I am really excited to be involved with the launch of a new forum for the affiliate marketing industry at www.affspot.com
Here is a video from AffSpot founder Sam Harrelson on AffSpot and what the goals of the forum are:
Forums like this are important because they are gathering places for the industry and places where people can exchange ideas in a public forum. As an affiliate, merchant, or service provider, there is much that can be learned from watching and more importantly participating in the discussion as you become comfortable and have something to share, whether this is insight on someone else’s question, or a question of your own.
You will notice that my company GTO Management and the Christian Affiliate Marketing Association have forums set up at AffSpot now. I hope you will join us there.

How to apply for affiliate programs
Jul 24, 2008 Tips for Affiliates
Okay - so the topic seems a little basic… all there is to it is to find a program you want to join, fill out their network or affiliate software application and off you go right?
Well… maybe.
If you are an experienced affiliate with a live site or blog that directly deals with the audience that the product or service appeals to and you have some traffic and other affiliate links posted, you are probably fine.
But what if your site or blog is new?
What if you plan to promote by a method that is not visible online like paid search or email marketing?
Here’s what I suggest to get your applications approved:
New Site or Blog:
- Please DON’T apply with a “site under construction” or a domain that doesn’t resolve - you will get your application refused 99.44% of the time if a live body is reviewing your app.
- Please DON’T apply with your template based site and the placeholder content still in place.
- Please DON’T apply with an email address that doesn’t resolve.
- Please DO - put some time into writing some content on your site for a few weeks or a month before you apply for any programs. If you have no content - you will get no traffic, and visitors won’t stay long enough to click an affiliate link anyway.
- Please DO- put up a page that you use in your affiliate program applications that lays out your VISION for your site and what you plan to do with it in terms of content and how you will get traffic.
- If you don’t know how you will get traffic, I would suggest that you do some research on sites like ABestWeb.com and BlogClassroom as well as read up on Social media marketing to see how you can round up some traffic. With no means of acquiring traffic - all the affiliate links in the world will not help you out.
- Please DO- write on something you are knowledgeable in, or are throwing yourself into learning about and share your knowledge and insight - then surround your awesome and compelling content from offers that would appeal to your audience
- Definitely DON’T - throw up a “banner farm,” what is a banner farm? It’s a site where an “affiliate” throws up a bunch of banners with no content whatsoever. THEY DON’T WORK
Paid Search or Email Marketing:
Please put up a page on your site or your blog that addresses how you market. If you are a paid search marketer, talk a bit about the kind of sites you work with well, what engines you work on, and what your approximate average monthly spend is. At the very least, identify that you are a paid search marketer.
If you are email marketing, please do the same thing and please provide links to some of your past email newsletters that show unsubscribe links and CAN-SPAM compliance. PLEASE ONLY DO AFFILIATE MARKETING WITH LISTS THAT YOU OWN…. and that you have verifiable permission (preferably double opt in) to market to.
Please also provide some breakdowns on the demographics of the lists that you own so that I (or one of my affiliate manager buddies) can tell if your lists are a match for our merchant.
I think these suggestions will help you achieve a higher approval rate as well as a higher rate of success in affiliate marketing.
God Bless,
Wade

If you are interested, please contact me using the site contact form above and we’ll discuss your program and offer and see if we can’t find a way to help get the word out.
A warning though.. if you are someone who is looking to prey on the Christian community as “just another niche” without delivering a high quality product or service and preferably, advancing the Gospel, save your time. I’m pretty picky with what I endorse here.

CAM Blog Recommends: Piano Wizard Affiliate Program
Jul 15, 2008 Christian Affiliate Programs
I am really excited about this post as I have tried the product involved and I was really impressed with it. Let’s go back in time to Affiliate Summit in Miami last summer. I am a bundle of stress as the day of our Christian Fellowship Brunch is getting ready to kick off… I am tabbed to speak and I have written nothing. Andy Rodriguez, my main sponsor comes up an introduces me to Chris and Vin and Jesse from PianoWizard.com (one of his clients) and asks me for 15 minutes of time. They tell me that they are going to teach me to play Amazing Grace using the Piano Wizard system… in 15 minutes… in front of all 55 attendees. No stress right…. the sweat was pouring off me.
It worked… I played it… and it was fun.
I recorded a podcast with Chris and Vin where we talked for about 20 minutes about Piano Wizard, the Piano Wizard Academy and the Piano Wizard Affiliate Program on Shareasale. Check it out:

Christianity Today publishes tips on publishing press releases
Jul 15, 2008 Uncategorized
I get a really cool newsletter from Christianity Today Magazine called the “CTEYE On Marketing” that I recommend you check out. One of their articles in todays edition “Getting Your Story in Print: How to Publish a Press Release” focused on how businesses can take advantage of press releases to get cheap or free publicity and attention. There are great tips in the article for either first time PR publishers who don’t know how to get started or for experienced marketers who just need a guide to make sure they are being as effective as possible.
Should you publish a press release? Here are the situations that Christianity Today recommends that you should consider publishing a press release about:
▪ Awards and accomplishments-including product launches, research results, charitable gifts, goals reached and more
▪ Special events or milestones-anniversary, open house or other public event, fundraising campaign, sponsorships, seminars/lecture/conferences, and other special happenings or events
▪ Business changes-including new appointments, retirements, expansion/downsizing, new products or services, new contracts, customers, mergers/acquisitions, sale of business, relocation, name change and other announcements relevant to the public.
▪ Business promotions-trade shows, contests, offers, celebrity endorsements, free stuff and more
▪ Crisis communications and issues management-while your tendency might be to “so silent,” getting your version of the story to the public when there’s a serious problem is often a good policy.
The team at Christianity Today supplies some tips on formatting, do’s and don’ts, etc to help you get the most from your press releases. Check it out:)
God Bless,
Wade

CAM Blog Podcast: Jim Kukral on getting started with blogs
Jul 15, 2008 Get started as an affiliate
Today, I was joined by top blogger Jim Kukral of JimKukral.com and Online VideoToolkit.com in response to a number of emails I have received lately from people interested in getting started as affiliates and wondering what web site design solution to use.
Jim and I both advocate blogging using either a self hosted WordPress solution or worst case, free blogs from WordPress.com or Blogger.com. We recommend this path for a couple of reasons. First, because it doesn’t take a lot of technical skill to blog - a novice can effectively be up and writing with a blog in a matter of minutes. Even a really nicely customized and branded blog can be set up in a matter of hours with some investment in header design and some time invested on a site like WebLogToolsCollection.com. More importantly, we feel that blogging is ideal because the way blogs are laid out is search engine friendly. If you write compelling content on an area you know about or research and become an expert in, and can write a good blog title, natural search rankings will most likely follow and quickly in comparision to a traditional website.
